New Featured Artist: Keerah

By ColdGlider | RS Blog

I’m pleased to announce that the Radio Sidewinder broadcast will now include music from Keerah, including previous work done as Endomorphin!

Hailing from Moscow, Keerah produces music from a variety of EDM genres which run the gamut from House to Chill to Progressive. Some with vocals, some instrumental, and some with a distinct retro feel which conjure up welcome images of galaxies we may have explored in the past.

Keerah’s warm mixes will draw you in and help keep you “in the zone” while you’re out in the black.

In addition to being talented musically, Keerah is also a highly skilled and successful video artist! See for yourself over at www.keerah.com

I have to admit that I literally found myself dancing in my studio seat while I listened to Keerah’s tracks on SoundCloud… which is something, dear reader, that I assure you happens very seldom and that you never want to see. But it was so fun!

If you find Keerah’s music having a similar affect on you, then please drop a listen and a like over on SoundCloud.

Thanks to Keerah for allowing us to share this uplifting and immersive music with you across the galaxy!

Distant Worlds: Episode Five is Live! 22-Minute Extended Edition with Prospecting Interview!

By ColdGlider | RS Blog

A month in the making (phew!) my interview with four members of the Distant Worlds Expedition Prospecting Team has been included as the bulk of this 22-minute extended edition of the Distant Worlds program.

A brief summary of Waypoint 21 is included, where I mention the Candyball Enduro Rally #3:

Congrats again to the winner! 😉

Here is a photo of one of the ship bridges made at base camp:

Notice the SRV headlights on the left-hand side!

Following the waypoint summary, the long-awaited Prospecting Interview from way back at Waypoint 17 commences, as I am joined by the following commanders:

If you are looking to get involved with prospecting for the first time, you can’t go wrong with Nexolek’s “Prospecting Central” thread:
https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=228645
Links to pretty much everything else you’ll need can be found there. 🙂

Anuranium’s Rock Rats video was mentioned by Michael, so here it is:

If you are willing and able to provide data entry services, you can assist the Distant Worlds prospectors right from The Bubble! The Rock Rats are looking for Scribes to assist with adding data to “The Monster”, a Google Docs spreadsheet which tracks the findings of prospectors galaxy-wide. Contact any of the commanders above if you’re interested in helping!

iDragox’s Colossal Challenge

CMDR iDragox would like to propose a challenge to our listeners to find the Very Rare material at Phipoea CD-F c26-1985 – Planet 1. This planet is the home of the “Colossus Crater”, which he discovered back near Waypoint 13. Try as he did, he was never able to find the VR. If you find it, please let us know in the comments below!!!

From iDragox’s personal travel log:
Phipoea CD-F c26-1985
Home to Phipoea’s Edge, a base camp I found on 2/24/3302. It lies on the edge of a 22km tall crater named Colossus. It has very light gravity at .06g, and has a radius of only 219km. My favorite find yet! Met up with CMDRs Zelryn, and Jerek for some photos and streaming. Wont forget this one.

CMDR OlFart has a NSFW video of the crater here on Twitch.

Congratulations to the commanders who have already made it to Beagle Point! You are now part of a landmark event in our galaxy’s history!

Episode Five of Distant Worlds was written, voiced, and produced by ColdGlider.

Special thanks to CMDRs Lord Fedora, Nexolek, iDragox, and Michael Darkmoor for the very interesting (and fun!) interview via Radio Sidewinder Remote Transmission Services.

These hard-working prospectors and scientists endured over two hours of conversation and questioning from yours truly. Once I removed an hour and forty minutes of iDragox cursing, we had about twenty minutes left to broadcast (I kid, I kid.)

But there were some iDragox bloopers. Here are three, but BE WARNED! F-bombs abound!

New Featured Artist: Echo Grid

By ColdGlider | RS Blog

It’s not every day that Radio Sidewinder is given permission to broadcast seven full albums worth of excellent music, but today we are excited to announce that this has indeed happened: Echo Grid is now on Radio Sidewinder!

Echo Grid is the music of Chris Anderson from Spijkenisse, The Netherlands. It’s a transcendental experience to listen to any of these albums on their own, let alone while exploring the wonders of the galaxy in Elite: Dangerous. This majestic and sublime music makes a perfect accompaniment to your travels across the Milky Way… and will continue to stay with you even after you have powered down your thrusters. It is perhaps best described by this quote from their Bandcamp site: “It is music for losing yourself, finding yourself, remembering what was and dreaming of what may be.”

We’ll be adding all seven Echo Grid albums to our rotation over time, and are beginning today with the album “Eventide”. But you don’t have to wait to hear them all! Visit https://echogrid.bandcamp.com/ to preview and purchase the albums for listening anywhere, in virtually any format you could want (MP3, FLAC, and even WAV formats are available for those of you who appreciate lossless CD-quality!)

Please join me in supporting Echo Grid, and be sure to visit the Echo Grid Facebook page to find out the latest release news. Give him a like, and let him know that you heard him first on Radio Sidewinder!

Thank you the generous support, Chris!

New Featured Artist: ivedonethemath

By ColdGlider | RS Blog

From Wroclaw, Poland comes Tomasz Słoma (aka ivedonethemath) who has been kind enough to allow us to air several tracks here on Radio Sidewinder. Many tracks feature samples from historic moments in space travel, underscored with cool and distinctive electronic music. I think you’ll agree that the themes fit quite well with our favorite video game!

My personal favorites are “malacandrian rollercoasters” and “yet another space song”, but every song will be a favorite to somebody- they’re all very well produced!

“flyby.”
“last day.”
“let us fly.”
“malacandrian rollercoasters.”
“perseids”
“taking my first lunar steps when suddenly…”
“yet another space song. (feat. spaceymont)”
“a message.”

You can find more ivedonethemath at https://soundcloud.com/tsloma94

Thanks, Tomasz!

CoLD SToRAGE is Now on Radio Sidewinder!

By ColdGlider | RS Blog

I am excited to announce that Radio Sidewinder is adding the music of Tim Wright (aka CoLD SToRAGE) to its broadcast today!

CoLD_SToRAGE_Avatar

Tim is a Welsh video game music composer most known for his work in video game soundtracks such as Shadow of the Beast II & III, Agony, Lemmings, Wipeout and Colony Wars. You can read more about his career here.

Tim’s music is a perfect fit for Radio Sidewinder. The wide-open spatial landscape of tracks like “The Great Bear” provide contemplative music for explorers, miners, and traders. Adrenaline-boosting anthems such as “Onyx” are a perfect match for those of you who live by combat or thrive on racing. Whatever your occupation in the galaxy, you can find a futuristic companion soundtrack by CoLD SToRAGE!

I highly encourage you to visit Tim’s Bandcamp Site to see what I’m talking about. He covers many different genres, but his own unique style always shines though. It’s a great place to check off some names from your holiday shopping list!

Chillout

Finally, be sure to check out the CoLD SToRAGE Facebook Page for details on his forthcoming release, Chillout. Only 18 more days remain for the pre-order! I’ve been a fan of Tim’s music ever since Wipeout was released on the first Playstation… and after listening to the teaser samples for Chillout, that release date can’t come soon enough!

Thanks to Tim for supporting our mission to guide and entertain pilots across the universe!

Broadcasting Update: LC Round Table, EDC Four Corners, Underground Fight Clubs, RS News and more!

By Laughing Skull | RS Blog

Greetings, Commanders! First, let me apologize for the lack of web updates recently; I’ve been on thin ice here at Studio C for the past week or so. Apparently my methods of persuasion are “inhumane.” How was I supposed to know Jerry from our tech crew was so weak-willed? I really need to know these things beforehand. But hey, look on the bright side, Jerry’s got a cool new nickname. How many people can honestly be known as ‘the Mad’ nowadays?

But enough of that, let’s get to why we’re all here; new radio content! We’ve got quite the list today, so let’s get right to it.

Launch Coordinates Round Table

The Launch Coordinates Round Table Special is on the air! The massive episode has been split into three parts in order to fit with our regular schedule, with each episode airing exactly three hours apart. Make sure to tune in to catch each part as it airs! Additionally, you can catch the entire episode here!

EDC Four Corners Mission, Group 3 Update

Thanks to our reporter Meris Echindar and his tireless efforts, we’ve got the latest news from the EDC on their Four Corners mission. Commander Vonpaulus is back after his long trip, attaining Elite status and wracking up millions of credits from Universal Cartographics. You can catch the entire episode during our regular broadcast or on our soundcloud!

Underground Fight Clubs

Even Meris has connections in shadier parts of the galaxy, it seems. Reports indicate that something that can only be likened to a fight club took place several days ago, with dogfighting and even a massive free-for-all. As always, you can catch the report on our broadcast or on our soundcloud!

RS News: Halsey is missing!

That’s right, Federation President Halsey has been missing for several days after leaving for her tour around the edges of Federation space and taking an unscheduled detour for classified reasons. Catch this breaking news report on our regular broadcast, or catch in on soundcloud!

That’s all the news for this week! As always, we’ve got podcasts of all our old content that’s no longer in rotation available on Itunes or our Soundcloud page, and now we’ve got our own SubReddit! Head down to Reddit.com/r/RadioSidewinder to discuss our content, post story leads, or just to say hi!

Looks like I’ve got to go, Jerry the Mad is trying to put Matrona Experience Jelly into the coffee machine, and because I’m “responsible” for his “condition” I’ve got to stop him from doing such things. Here’s hoping there isn’t any Jelly left in the machine when Arbitration gets back from the other Studios. He’s quite picky about his coffee, you see.

Anyway, fly smart, fly safe, and thanks for being a part of Radio Sidewinder!
